We head to Zona Tortona. For a long time this has beenthedesign district where major brands present their image-enhancing campaigns. Branding of big brands is a great reason for me to go there. I feel this year’s edition, however, was not as inspiring.
IKEA X SONOS collaboration
I will remember this collaboration for a while. Even though IKEA is a major global player, the brand aroused my curiosity with the installation it created in collaboration with Sonos. I wanted to experience the result up close.
In addition to the sustainability component, Ikea also focuses on digital technology, or rather: sound technology. Together with Sonos, IKEA has developed SYMFONISK, a set of speakers designed to make the perfect home sound system available to all. The system combines Sonos’ expertise in sound and technology with IKEA’s knowledge of interior design. SYMFONISK is covered with soft fabric, so that it fits into any home. Thus it makes everyday life more beautiful in terms of sound anddesign.
The installation invites the user to interact with the sound that is hidden behind the locker doors. After viewing the installation, we had the chance to do a Meet & Greet with the designers.
For a long time the quirky design brand Moooi was displayed in Zona Tortona, but this time it moved to the Brera District. It’s always worth a visit for me, thanks to the complete concept that they present there.
This time the imposing Palazzo served as the venue. Definitely a brilliant way to enhance a brand!
The focus was on indigo blue and the link to a sustainable technique for creating denim. This was applied to leather and fabrics in furniture.
MATERIAL COLOURED WORLD
The following coloured materials among others were striking: multicolour terrazzo variants of recycled components, inlays of leather and coloured marble, terracotta, 3D reliefs, and acoustic materials of natural fibre. The colour palette is bold and colourful. From indigo blue to brick red.
